For Educators
Supporting Students Who Need Speech Therapy
Speech therapy is a direct support for students struggling with developmental delays, issues in fluency and literacy, communication challenges related to neurodiversity and autism, and more. We find that our work is most effective when shared with and supported by a child’s classroom teacher, and we know that educators often desire more information and resources about speech therapy and early intervention.
Educators and school administrators call on Brooklyn Speech Therapy for:
Discussions: When should you recommend speech therapy to a student? What communication challenges might benefit from early intervention versus “that’s just typical preschool development”? How might you approach recommending speech therapy to a family that seems resistant to the idea? We offer informal consultation with all school teachers and educators who wish to explore the ways a speech therapist can support their staff and student community, and to guide parents with empathy and diplomacy.
Deep Dives: Brooklyn Speech Therapy Founder Taylor D’Aries provides a variety of formal trainings and seminars on topics related to speech development and communication support. Our deep dives provide a broad understanding, and functional application of a topic of your choosing. This professional development session concludes with a certificate of completion.
Bespoke Consulting & Trainings: Does your school desire training or consulting on a specific topic not listed above? We can work with you to create a custom offer that addresses your unique environment’s needs.
“I feel so lucky to have found Taylor to work with my son (age 4) and daughter (age 8). She has been instrumental in helping each of my kids make fantastic progress on their unique speech issues (for my son, somewhat complex issues related to autism; for my daughter, more common articulation issues). Importantly, my kids thoroughly enjoy sessions with Taylor, which reflects her impressive ability to connect and engage with kids of different ages, abilities and personalities. This is true even since sessions went virtual because of the pandemic. Moreover, Taylor is an absolute delight for me to work with – her intelligence, caring nature and professionalism are always evident in our interactions, whether it be to provide feedback on each kid’s progress, updates on care plans or scheduling.”
